Project Hyperion
Generation-ship design competition for a 250-year interstellar voyage.
Interstellar travel competition. I would really like to see/build a simulator to test ideas like this.
Project Hyperion is the Initiative for Interstellar Studies’ global design competition for a crewed generation ship: a 250-year voyage to a habitable planet using current and near-future technologies. Teams of architects, engineers, and social scientists had to design for 1,000 ± 500 people living for centuries under artificial gravity (rotation), with closed-loop life support and knowledge-transfer mechanisms to keep culture and technology intact. The site carries the 2025 competition results, press kit, requirements, and jury.
